“… una different styles vumilia, Yesu mwenyewe alivumilia for you to be In and Out of Season Saa zingine ni saa naaaane usiku wanasema kesha ipo; Wewe umechoka; umetembea kutoka sijui wapi mpaka Nairobi, ukifika home umechoka lakini vumilia…” The dynamic, charismatic songbird behind the AFRIZO group, Mrs. Hellen Mtawali sang with her quivering singsong voice. Her session was just diverse. Look, point by point was expressed musically, how amazing! Right?
Music as a Career and Ministry: 2 Timothy 4:4 Music is dynamic, humorous more so it has 12 signal systems. She illuminated that a worshipper should explore space, involve the congregation and walk with grace (Spatial Signal System).
Rev. Mike Bitok- A rolling moss gathers no moss! His breathtaking life experiences out rightly explain the famous proverb. Indeed, what matters is the finish line not where you started.
The Distinctions in Generations: The choices you make today determine whether you’ll be among the leading group or naaah… Luke 2:52 STATURE+WISDOM = FOUNDATION. The foundation is the youth or rather the young. Vision determines your foundation. In addition, wisdom is when knowledge becomes like a daily practice.
Rev. Chris J. Atemo- Ah! Nothing is as easy to comprehend as a story explained using illustrations. He did it to explain the creation story until the fall of man. How amazing is that! Think about it… How great it is that God allowed man with a sinful nature to carry the nature of Christ and for Jesus to pay the price for us Christians by taking our sinful nature..?
Growing Deep in Christ: Daniel 9:2; Mark 7:13; Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Pst. Chris dictated that we as youths should be ready to undergo the transformation of the mind and fine tune to the Word of God in order to understand God’s perfect will.
Mrs. Joy Mdivo- The full of life wife, mother, lawyer, activist and most importantly believer of Christ gave utterance to make clear the responsibility of a Christian in leadership.
Christian Leadership & Market place: Daniel 1. Understand your position, set yourself apart and trust the higher powers to use you as a vessel of change in the society. A leader should also be led by strong faith and will; Daniel 3:17-18. Also a leader should have integrity while carrying out the day in day out routine of the business.
Rev. Tom Otieno
Vessels of honour: Psalm 139; Ephesians 2:14… Before God created you, He already equipped you with a purpose. He encouraged that we should gird ourselves in the Spirit; 2 Samuel 13 and also understand the gifts that God has given us.
Eh! This was just no ordinary youth convention. Clearly, it is an experience worth to call to mind. The disparity in ethnicity was really embraced. People came from all walks of life sure not to miss the thrilling experience. In attendance were Rev. Gideon Kwame (Directorate of TEMA Diocese Methodist Church of Ghana) and also the beautiful Lisa Bel Brown (World Methodist Council Youth and Young Adults Chair).
Hey! But who said Dunamis was all about growing spiritually only? Let’s talk business…
Eric Kinoti- A Kenyan Enterpreneur and the founder and CEO of Shade systems EA.ltd, a million dollar enterprise that has a presence in over 6 countries. He has won several awards in East Africa and internationally, has gained recognition for his entrepreneurial endeavors, and is also a noted philanthropist.
Entrepreneurship: He highlighted that an entrepreneur identifies a gap and comes up with a solution. Also, he put forth the traits that an entrepreneur must live by; an entrepreneur must be passionate, be innovative and have a target among the many essential traits he pin-pointed.
Also, on board of the break-out sessions was our very own Mr. Ken Gitiye who dwelt on Career and Talent Developmentand Rev. Ben Linguli, Mission and Outreach.
Dr. John Bwire (PROCMURA)
Changes of Radicalization and Violent Terrorism: He expressed radicalism and extremism as a global phenomenon that afflicts pain and is renowned as the mother of terrorism. He made a stand for Christians and Muslims to have an inter-faith environment that respects the spirit of good neighborliness and Christian constructive engagement with Muslims for peace and peaceful co-existence.
Rev. Joseph Obwanda- The articulate vital man of God encouraged the need to cut the flack off the blame game for change.
Youths as agents of change: John 1:12. Indeed as a youth the power is within you only if you let God. The Dunamis was all about affirming who you are in God. He warned not to squander the divine resources within us in order to have an intentional and functional spirituality. He also went ahead to pin-point the 7 dynamics of change (7 R’s).
You’d concur with me that suspense and climactic progress from one incident to another are essential thus it would be well with us all if I didn’t spill out the beans on everything we learnt just to induce that yearning feeling of you attending the next Dunamis Experience, you know… Mmh!
Just as an author works immensely on the denouement of his book, the sessions were wrapped up by one of the most dynamic International Conference Speaker and passionate revivalist, Rev. Dr. Lucy Natasha.
IN SEASON AND OUT OF SEASON: She heartened that before you encounter a breakthrough, you’ll go through a breakdown since before any glory, comes a story! Daniel 3:17 “Ifwe are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty.” The fire is to display the power of God and not to destroy you. Proverbs 18:21 Remember, in season and out of season, a believer should speak the Word of God to his/her life. Also that which we confess is what we possess. She put it right that the will of God will not take you where His grace will not protect you.
Dunamis is based on the words from Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” It didn’t last long before we realized the inherent power was taking over our spirits. Yes, the DUNAMIS!
To call the convention a wrap was the most awaited Gala Night. Eh! The invitees were dressed for the occasion, that with no doubt; from the tuxedos for the men to the elegant cocktail dresses for ladies. Exquisite is an understatement! Alongside this glamour were the likes of celebrated artists, Kambua, Makena, Karwirwa, our very own, Cryptic Genesis, Aloise Hungiand many more that made the night worth one to reminisce about!
Thanks to the Almighty God; Rev. Joseph Ntombura, the Presiding Bishop Methodist Church in Kenya; Rev. Dennis Muriungi, the Connexional Youth Coordinator; Rev. Japhet Kiambi, Connexional Youth Patron; Amos Mwirigi, Connexional Youth Chairman; the clergy, the organizing team for their willingness to take on the completion of tasks beyond their comfort zones and also bringing to us powerful speakers.
To our dear church, Ruaraka Methodist, thankyou for supporting as with your love towards this convention.

What an invigorating experience! Looking forward to DUNAMIS XP2.
With love,
